From: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] Sent: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 9:17 PM To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Briscoe-to-McGinnis.1810.Mercer.DEED Samuel McGinnis - Jeremiah Briscoe August 29 1810 Mercer County KyArchives Deed Written: August 29 1810 Recorded: August 29 1810 Deed Book 7, page 534 This Indenture made this 29th Day August 1810 Between Jeremiah Briscoe and Elisabeth his wife of Mercer County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Samuel McGinnis of Said County and State of the Other part witnesseth that the said Jeremiah Briscoe & Elisabeth his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Eleven hundred & forty four Dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have given granted bargained Sold, aliend and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain, Sell alien and confirm unto the said Samuel McGinnis and his Heirs forever one certain Tract or parcel of land containing Two hundred twenty eight & three quarters Acres Situate lying and being in Mercer County on the waters of Chapline and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a Beech and locust corner to John Gray; thence West 24 poles to a Stake a corner to William Claunch, thence North 150 poles to a dogwood and two red buds in Said Claunches line; thence West 98 poles to a Stake in Jesse McGinniss's line and corner to Joel Compton thence South 119 poles to a Beech another corner to the Same thence west 98 poles to an Iron wood and Hickory, a corner to Amos Thornburghs land thence South two Hundred and fifty one poles to an Iron wood Black Ash, and hickory in Harbison's line thence East 85 poles to a Sugar tree and dogwood corner to John Gray; thence North 102 poles to a white Oak; thence N63E 158 poles to the Beginning with its appurtenences. To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land with its appurtenences to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel McGinnis and his Heirs forever. And the Said Jeremiah Briscoe and Elisabeth his wife for themselves their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns, the Said land premises unto the said Samuel McGinnis & his Heirs Shall and will forever warrant and defend against the Claim or Claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. August 29th 1810 The within Indenture was this day acknowledged before me in my office by Jeremiah Briscoe and Elizabeth Briscoe his wife a party thereto to be their act and deed and the said Elizabeth being examined separately and apart from her said husband freely and voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the land mentioned within as the law directs whereupon I have made the same of record.
