He was a long-time member and former Trustee of First Presbyterian Church and a retired Independent Coal Operator - whose mining operations in Kentucky and Virginia spanned more than 40 years. The youngest and last survivor of 9 children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Henry Brock, Mr. Brock was a graduate of Harlan High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Randall Brock, Roland Brock, Reid Brock, Roy Brock, Roscoe Brock, Laura Brock, Lillie Brock Emery, and Lula Brock Lockard. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine (Kate) Bundy Brock. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jayne Carr Fulton Brock; sons and daughter-in-law: Ramsey Fulton Brock and Susan Brock, Chandler, AZ, Jon Boswell Brock; son, Knoxville, TN; granddaughters: Rebecca Jayne Brock, Rachel Katherine Brock, and Elizabeth Anne Marie Brock, Chandler AZ; a special niece, Jayne Fulton Weiler Hendrickson; Dr. Sandford L. Weiler and the late Betty Carr Fulton Weiler; revered brother / sister-in-law;, numerous nephews and their families, and treasured friends, Roger Clem and Brenda Kelly. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church, Harlan Kentucky with Rev. Fred Griffie and Rev. Robert Landis officiating. Private interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers: Dr. Samuel Newton Guy, Clyde Scott Gaines, Robert Winston Gaines, Dr. Jesse Burton Douglas, Sidney Burton Douglas, Jeffrey James Brock, Hiram Montgomery Brock, III , and Morgan Paul Miller. Nephews will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 189, Harlan, KY; or Christ's Hands, 112 Railroad Street, Harlan, KY. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Anderson & Laws Funeral Home, Harlan.
