Indian War 1791 Ky Agency State of Kentucky County of Hardin Pct On this 1st day of September 1830 before me subscriber a Justice of the peace for the said County of Hardin personally appeared William Bush who on his oath declares that he is the same person who formerly belonged to the Company Commanded by Captain John Thomas an Major Patrick Browns Battallion of Kentucky Militia and the Regiment Commanded by Colonel Oldham in the service of the United States on the rebellion Commanded by Major Jenl St Clair against the Miami Indias - And that while in actual service of said expedition he was wounded by the Indians On the 17th day of October 1791- That a certificate was granted him by James M Henry secretary of War bearing date the 18th day of March 1800 whereby he was placed on the Roll of Invalid pensioners, And that his pension has ever since been payable in Philadelphia in the State of Pennsylvania But that he has resided in the State of Kentucky ever since the date of his certificate & now resides in said State where he intends to remain & wishes his pension there payable in future for the following reason - He is now old, from age & infirmities & the disability occurred by this wound he is not as able to travel about as formerly. That he draws his money fromthe pension agent in Philadelphia requires considerable formality And a special agent the expences of which curtails the amount of his pension much more than if drawn in Kentucky Wm Bush {Seal} Sworn and subscribed to before me the day & year aforesaid Allen Singleton JPHC State of Kentucky Hardin County to wit October 17th day of September 1830 before me the subscribing Justice of the peace for the said County of Hardin personally appeared John Helm Sen. who on his Oath declares that he is well acquainted with William Bush who subscribed the foregoing affidavit & that he is the identical person there in described having served on the same expedition and received a wound himself that he well recollects the wound Bush received & has been acquainted with said Bush ever since John Helm Sen Sworn and subscribed to by the said John Helm who is a man of veracity the day & year aforesaid Allen Singleton JPHC War Department Letter, February 10th, 1845 Sir: Under the act of the 6th of April 1838, entitled "An Act directing the transfer of money remaining unclaimed by certain Pensioners, and authorizing the payment of the same at the Treasury of the United States," and the third section of the Act of August 23, 1842, intending the time within which pensioners may receive their pensions from the pension agens, The widow of William Bush decd Invalid Pensioner of the Roll of Kentucky Agency, at the rate of Eight Dollars and [blank] cents per month has been paid at this Department, from the 4th of March 1840, to the 18th Dec. 1840.
