Elroy Scott Cart, 90, Union Star, died July 6, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Union Star, the son of the late Ernest Roy and Florence Biddle Cart.

He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy, he had retired from Olin Chemical and was a deacon for Payneville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mabel Barger.

Mr. Cart is survived by his wife, Elwanda Batts Cart; a daughter, Glenda
(Frank) King, Richmond, Va.; a son, Steve (Sherry) Cart, Brandenburg; six grandchildren, Brian (Rebecca) King, San Diego, Calif., Todd (Bridget) King, Atlanta, Ga., Kyle King, Richmond, Va., Josh Salvia, Chicago, Ill., Adam Cart and Alison Cart, both of Brandenburg; and four great-grandchildren, Aidan King, Quinlan King, Vivian King and Nicholas King.

Funeral services will be held July 9 at 11 a.m. EDT from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Union Star Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home July 8, 5-8 p.m., and after
8 a.m. July 9. The grandchildren will also be the pallbearers.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Payneville Baptist Church Building Fund.
