CARTER August 21, 1960 Breckinridge-Meade County KyArchives Obituaries Breckinridge County Herald News, Friday, September 30, 1960 Obituary -from the "MEADE COUNTY MESSENGER NEWSPAPER"- Ben H. CARTER, a native of Wolf Creek (Meade County), Ky., died of a heart attack on August 21, 1960 at the Silver Cross Hospital of Joliet, Illinois. He was born June 15, 1886 in Wolf Creek, the youngest son of the late William L. and Martha J. CARTER. He was married in 1912 to Miss Ida Mae KINLEY, and to this union was born six children His wife and two children preceded him in death on June 28, 1937. On September 29, 1946, Mr. CARTER was married to Mrs. Jessie BOYD who survives him. Also surviving are: one son: Billie CARTER, Lockport, Illinois three daughters: Mrs. Emma Lee SPROULL, Magan, Illinois Mrs. Margaret DAILEY, Wilmington, Illinois Mrs. Ruthie LESLIE, Princeville, Illinois two sisters: Mrs. Frank SMITH, Irvington (Breckinridge County), Ky. Mrs. Goldie BRUNER, New Albany (Floyd County), Indiana 10 grandchildren One step-son and one step-daughter of Braidwood, Illinois, also survive him. Mr. and Mrs. CARTER had served as caretakers for the Braidwood High School for the past eight years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held at the Patterson Funeral Home at Braidwood Wednesday, August 24, 1960. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, (Will County), Illinois. Pallbearers: Fred SPROULL Russell BARGER Gene MULLINS Richard SAUERS Clarence DAILEY Dale McCARVILLE His sisters, Mrs. Frank SMITH and Mrs. Goldie BRUNER accompanied by Chris SMITH of Guston (Meade County)., Ky., Robert SMITH and Rodman DOWELL of Irvington, attended the funeral.
