        Fred Chaney, 30, traveling salesman, died suddenly at 10 o'clock
this morning at his home at Pikeville, Ky., relatives here were advised
today.  No details were conveyed in the death message.  Chaney had been ill
several days, according to reports.
        Surviving are his widow, formerly Miss Lorene Martin, city, and
other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted at Pikeville at 1:30
o'clock Friday afternoon with burial in a cemetery there.
        W N Martin, father, and Paul Martin, brother of Mrs Shaney (sic),
left this afternoon for Pikeville to attend the last rites.
