Freedom on last Saturday at 6:30 o’clock p.m. after a few weeks illness of bowel trouble. The deceased was in his 83 year, and was one of the few remaining gallant soldiers who fought in the Mexican war. He was also a soldier in the late war and served his country faithfully and honorable. A few years ago he became converted and united with the Mt. Freedom Baptist church and has ever since lived a consistent Christian life. A few days before his demise, in conversation with his beloved pastor, Bro. B. F. Taylor, he said death had no terrors for him and was perfectly resigned to the will of God. He leaves three daughters and one son to mourn his loss - Mrs. Carrie Claunch, Misses Nannie and Georgia, and Mr. John Cleveland, of Owen county. After funeral services by Rev. Taylor, the remains were followed to their last resting place near Wilmore by a large concourse of friends and relatives. To the bereaved children are extended our heartfelt sympathy in this their hour of affliction.
