Coe May 28 1970 Cumberland County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown Glasgow KY newspaper. "Funeral services for Fred E. Coe, 74, Burkesville, a Veteran of World War I and retired carpenter, were held at 1 pm on Sunday, May 31, 1970, at the Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Harmon in charge, assisted by the Rev. W. O. Mers [sic]. Interment was in the Burkesville Cemetery. Mr. Coe passed away at the Community Hospital in Glasgow on Friday, May 29, 1970. He had been suffering from an attack of ulcers, and collapsed in his bathroom. He was taken to the Community Hospital in Glasgow to undergo an operation, but did not survive it. He was born in Cumberland County July 23, 1895, and was a member of the Burkesville Christian Church and the American Legion. He served as a deputy sheriff under the late John T. Brown in 1942-46, and was elected to the City Council three years ago, but withdrew. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Coe; one daughter, Mrs. June Zehnder, Louisville; two grandchildren, Mel and Elizabeth Ann Zehnder; one brother, Hershall Coe, Burkesville; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Walker, Columbia, and Mrs. Willie Crossfield, Lexington. Pallbears were James Stephenson, Esco Brown, E. O. Coe, Harlin Judd, Bill Fletcher, J. P. Stearns. Norris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
