OBIT: Theodore Compton, 1935, Hopkins Co Rev. Compton Very Ill Rev. Theodore Compton is reported very ill at the home of his niece, Mrs Pleasant Austin, in the Nebo country. He is not expected to live many days - -- The Daily Messenger, Madisonville, Ky, May 25, 1935. Rev. Compton Buried Monday The Rev. Theodore N Compton, 69, widely known Baptist minister and evangelist, died at the home of his niece, Mrs Pleasant Austin, Nebo section, at 1:13 o'clock Saturday afternoon. He had been in declining health four years. He was a member of the Madisonville First Baptist church at death and had served as pastor of Baptish churches of Hopkins and adjacent counties. Funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Austin home by the Rev. E B English. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery, Providence. The pallbearers were Ross Hoket, Tom Townsend, Wade Ramsey, Al Weldon, Ernest Dunning, Ezra Tapp, Lee Higginson and Vonnie Lane. - -- The Daily Messenger, Madisonville, Ky, May 27, 1935.
