Died: Thursday, 31 July 2003, brief illness at the University of Louisville 
Hospital, age 84.
Born: Greensburg KY
Daughter of the late Jim Clarence and Mary Oak Groves
Received her Bachelor of Arts degree from KY State College. Pursued graduate 
study work at Indiana University and Western Kentucky University where she 
received her Master of Arts degree. School teacher and taught for 41 years in 
the Green County, Barren County, Hart County, Glasgow City and Cincinnati 
school systems. Following her retirement, had lived the last 13 years in 
Shelbyville. Member National Education Association and Teachers Retirement 
System of Kentucky. Member First Baptist Church in Glasgow where she had 
previously served as assistant secretary, directress and pianist/organist for 
the Young People Choir for 23 years. Also a member of the Senior Choir and the 
Church Aid Club. In Shelbyville she had been a member of Clay Street Baptist 
Church.
Survivors:
Husband of 60 years: Russell Conley Jr
Daughters: Lavonia Darlene Conley of Indianapolis IN and Debra Carey Jordan and 
husband Albert of Shelbyville
Sister: Mary Gladys Cowherd of Greensburg
Grandchildren: Albert (A.J.) Jordan Jr and Carey-Jo La'Ren Jordan, both of 
Shelbyville.
Remembrance service at Clay Street Baptist Churchi n Shelbyville Sunday, 3 Aug 
2003 and funeral services 1 pm Tuesday, 5 Aug 2003 First Baptist Church of 
Glasgow with burial Barlow Cemetery. Morton-Beckley Fuenral Directors in 
Shelbyville.
