"Last Tuesday, at 1 pm, Mrs Betsy Cox, mother of Joe Cox, died at her home a 
few miles from down. The same evening at 8 o'clock, Mr. Cox's wife passed away. 
Mrs. Cox was a daughter of Will Chandler and is the second of his grown 
children that have died of measles within the last few days. He has two other 
daughters who are very low with the same disease. The two women were members of 
the Baptist church and were devout Christians. May God's grace sustain the 
husband and father in their sad hours."
