In the name of God amen.  The 11th of October eighteen hundred and twenty three 
[.] 
I William Cox of the County of Breckinridge and the State of Kentucky being in 
perfect mind I give unto my children Elizabeth Cox, Mary Cox and Samuel Cox a 
certain negro girl by the name of Nelly her and her increase forever and for 
the said girl to stay with James Seaton until the youngest child becomes of age 
her and her increase for his benefit for raising them and then and [sic] equal 
division between the three children.  Further I William Cox wish my land to be 
sold and other property until all my debts is paid and if any thing more it is 
to be equally divided among my children as above stated[.]  In __ whereof I 
have set my hand and seal this day and year above written[.]  Furthermore I 
chose James Cox and John Cox executors to my will[.]

The within writing was duly proved by the oaths of Christopher Hall[,] James 
Davis Seaton & Benjamin Hawkins subscribing witnesses thereto who in open court 
swore that the within writing was signed sealed publised [sic] and declared by 
the within named William Cox now deceased to be his last will and testament 
that they believed that at that time the within named William Cox was of sound 
mind and disposing memory and that they subscribed their names witnesses 
thereto in his presents [sic] and the within being thus proved was sworn to by 
John Cox one of the executors therein named and is thereupon ordered to be 
recorded[.]
