When about twenty-five years of age he removed to Brandenburg, since which time he has been a resident of Meade County. His father, John B. Cundiff, was born May 16, 1799, in Bedford County, Va., removing thence with his parents to Kentucky in a very early day. He was a son of James Cundiff, who was one of the pioneer settlers of Bullitt County; was a soldier under Gen. Jackson at New Orleans, and of Irish descent. John B. Cundiff was married, in 1818, to Miss Elizabeth, daughter of Henry and Rachel Younger, of Bullitt County, but formerly of Maryland. From this union sprang thirteen children, of whom Thomas Perry was the tenth. Thomas Perry Cundiff married, August 11, 1864, Miss Esther N., daughter of John and Elizabeth (Dent) Bewley, of Meade County. To them have been born John T., Elizabeth W., Arrie D., Charley R., Orlie L. And Anna L. When a young man Mr. Cundiff began, with some assistance, to operate a farm; he is now owner of about 300 acres of well improved land in a fine state of cultivation. He is a member, with his wife, of the Baptist Church, and in politics is a Democrat. He was for about twelve years a magistrate and a member of the court of claims of Meade County. His father, from the time of his marriage until his death, accumulated property worth at least $40,000.
