Davie, 1877, Barren Co. & TN Submitted by Sandi Gorin NOTE: I have no connection, no further information and am not seeking additional information. "Dr. Thomas W. Davie died at Mrs. Evans' in this place on Friday night last of that lingering disease - comsumption. He had long been in very bad health and his death was not unexpected by himself or friends. Few men leave behind them a better reputation for strict uprightness and thorough gentlemanliness than did the deceased. We heard a gentleman, who had known him long and well, say, "Tom Davie, from the time I knew him when a school boy, to the day of his death, never did an act of which to be ashamed." The news of his death will be received with sorry by the members of the old 4th Kentucky regiment, of which, if we mistake not, he served all through the late civil war. He died triumphing by the mercy of God over the terrors of death and in the blessed hope of a happy immortality beyond." Glasgow Municipal Cemetery Dr. T W Davie 7 May 1842 - 07 Dec 1877, born Nashville, Tn. Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 13 Dec 1877. ______________________________
