Mr. Davis was a native of this county. He was a Christian gentleman in every way and was a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Davis was engaged in farming near Judy until 12 years ago when he moved to this city. He was well known about the county where he was held in the highest esteem. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his late residence, Rev. Olus Hamilton officiating and burial followed in Machpelah cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Davis, five sons Arthur and Cecil Davis, of this city, and Lawrence Davis, of Morehead ( only listed 3 sons) ; six daughters; Mrs. Ben Carrington and Mrs. Oscar Kendall, of this county; Mrs. W.O. Barker, of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Polie Payne , of Indiana; Mrs Susan Ishmael and Miss Edna Davis, of this city; three brothers, George Davis, of carlisle and Tom and Jesse Davis, of Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Tom Shepherd, of Kansas.
