Alice McCann was born in Lewis County Kentucky In June of 1858. She was the 
daughter of Edward McCann and Elizabeth Burriss. She married Joseph Dawney in 
August 1878 and was the mother of the following Elizabeth Dawney Armstrong [ 
Noted teacher in Lewis Co ] Lydia Pearl Dawney Wallace [ Grandmother of the 
contributer] Ida Dawney, Nellie Dawney, Magdalen Dawney, John Dawney, Mary 
Louise Dawney, and Daisy Dawney. Alice died on May 18 1929 and is buried along 
with Joseph at the Muses Chapel on Cricks Run , Lewis County Ky
