DAY, MILDRED AUDREY - age 82, of the Claxton community, passed away Thursday
afternoon at her home, with her family by her side. Mildred was born July
14, 1921 in Whitley County, Kentucky. She was originally from Rockholt, Kentucky
& moved to Anderson County in 1950. She was a devoted wife, mother & also 
raised several foster children. She enjoyed sewing, painting, crocheting &
was a favorite among local crafters. She was a longtime member of Batley 
Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, George Leon Day; sons, Gary 
Elliott & Willis Ray Meadows; parents, Joe & Lela Rollins Elliott. Survivors: 
son, Cleve Day & wife, Laurie of Claxton, David Day & Lisa of Knoxville; 
daughter, Oletha Day of Clinton; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 
brother, Kenneth Elliott & wife, Christine of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Lillian 
Day of Clinton; several nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00 -
 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. 
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon in the chapel of 
Holley-Gamble Funeral  Home with Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating. Interment will 
follow the service at Batley Baptist Church cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral 
Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
