Name: Mary Ellen Whitlow DeMyer Residence: Tallahasee FL Died: Monday, 2 May 2005, Westminster Oaks Retirement Community in Tallahasee where she had resided for the past eight years, age 92 Born: 88 KY Daughter of the late Johnnie Otis and Cora Myrtie Baldock Whitlow Attended the University of Kentucky for a year, then began teaching in a rural school in Barren Co. Enrolled at Western Kentucky State Teachers Collee, continuing to teach for four years, graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1937. After teaching two years in Fulton, she accepted the position as Home Agent with the Farm Security Administration until the birth of her daughters. Returned to teaching in 1952 as head of the Home Economics Department of Fulton City High School. Her teaching career spanned 26 years until her retirement in 1973. Very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Fulton Survivors: Two daughters: Martha Lee Pitts and husband Jim of Talahassee and Mary Grant DeMyer of Virginia Beach VA Five grandchildren: John and Justin Pitts, both of Tallahassee, Julie Pitts of Denver CO, Drew Good of Virginia Beach and Christy Flynn and husband CHip of Raleigh NC One great-granddaughter. Preceded also in death by: Husband: Gilbert Lee DeMyer Sister: Olive Ethel Whitlow Myers Services: Memorial service Saturday 21 May 2005, Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton.
