He had been in ill health for some time and death was caused by compolications and infirmities due to old age. "A native of Metcalfe County, he was born January 30, 1853 and had moved to Barren county when a young man. He served as sheriff of Barren county in 1888, but had devoted most of his life to farming. He was married to Miss Betty Bagby in October 1979, and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last fall. He was a member of the Christian Church. "Always advocating the high ideals of living he as keenly interested in the civic, fraternal, business and religious activities of his community. Plain spoken and sterm in business dealings he was a man of charitable nature, withal. With his passing Barren county loses one of its best and most highly respected citizens. "Besides his wife, Mrs. Betty Bagby Depp, he is survived by a son, Mr. Walter Depp, Glasgow R. 6; a brother, Mr. Raymond Depp, Wisdom; two sisters, Mrs. Franklin Young of Burkesville, and Mrs. Lou Bagby, Wisdom. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Three children, Mrs. Maggie Hindman, Dr. Henry Depp and an infant son, Howard, preceded him to the grave. "The pallbearers were Messrs. C. T. Powell, C. H. Bradford, Alanson Trigg, J. C. Hutcherson, W. P. Coombs and H. W. Jolly. His eight grandchildren carried the flowers. "Funreal services were held Friday, 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church, the Rev. Kenneth H. McCorkle in charge. Burial was in the Glasgow cemetery."
