DHONAU, who had owned and operated a funeral home in Cloverport, Ky (Breckinridge County), for more than 47 years, died Monday, March 28, 1983 in Breckinridge Memorial Hospital, Hardinsburg. He was 77 years old. Mr. DHONAU, who had been suffering from arthritis, was taken to the hospital Sunday, a spokesman at the funeral home said. An electrocardiogram was taken, and the results led to a decision to keep him in the hospital overnight, she said; he had a heart attack early Monday morning and died that afternoon. Mr. DHONAU, a native of Rome, Indiana (Perry County), a son of Henry and Cornelia WILSON DHONAU, worked in funeral homes in Evansville, Indiana (Vanderburgh County), and in Louisville, KY (Jefferson County), before coming to Cloverport in November 1935, and opening the Harry L. DHONAU Funeral Home. Mr. DHONAU graduated from the Louisville Embalming and Undertakers School in June 1927. He was a member of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, the Cloverport Industrial Foundation, and a former member of the Cloverport Merchants Association, the Lions Club, the Optimist Club, and the Rotary Club. He was the County Coroner for 12 years, and a Deputy Coroner when he died. He also was a retired barber. Mr. DHONAU is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Margaret STATZ DHONAU of Cloverport, Ky. one daughter: Mrs. Joseph (Peggy) MITCHELL of Louisville, Ky two granddaughters: Mrs. Leo (Mary) FANTE of Louisville, Ky Miss Linda MITCHELL of Louisville, Ky a great granddaughter: Kristina Margaret FANTE two brothers: Wilbur DHONAU of Dale, Indiana (Spencer County) Kenneth DHONAU of Cannelton, Indiana (Perry County) one sister: Carmen HUBBARD of Evansville, Indiana The funeral will be at noon tomorrow, Thursday, March 31, 1983 at the St. Rose Catholic Church, Cloverport, with the Reverend John VAUGHAN, the pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Cloverport Cemetery.
