"For and in consideration of the sum of Twelve hundred dollars We the under 
signed have this day baragained and sold to John G PAGE of Allen county 
Kentucky a certian negro woman named Emily aged about 22 yrs and her infant 
child named Johnson aged 11 months which said woman and child are hereby was 
and is still sound in body & mind and slaves for life and hereby bind 
ourselves to warrant and defend the title to said negros against the claim or 
claims of all persons whom so ever witness our hands this 16th day of March 
1857. /s/ J M DOTY, Ann M DOTY. "
