From: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] Sent: Wednesday, November 17, 2004 10:31 AM To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Dromgoole-to-Pitts.1802.Logan.DEED John PITTS - James DROMGOOLE March 16 1802 Logan County KyArchives Deed on Maulding's Fork of Red River Written: March 16 1802 Recorded: March 16 1802 Deed Book A1, Page 509-510, 1793 - 1803 Logan Co., KY This indenture made this 16th day of March eighteen hundred and two between Urban EWING, Sheriff of Logan County of the one part and John PITTS of the other part both of the county of Logan and State of Kentucky witnessth that the said Urban EWING, Sheriff of Logan Co. in persuance of an execution to him directed from the district court of Lexington in the State aforesaid and sworn out by Thomas HART and Samuel PRICE against the estate of James DROMGOOLE and Company and the Said Urbin EWING, Sheriff as aforesaid having levied said execution on a certain tract of land lying and being in the County of Logan on Maulding's Fork of Red River containing two hundred acres more or less proceeded to sell the same at public auction according to law in the year 1800 on the premises which was purchased by John PITTS who was the higgest bidder, he having bid the sum of two hundred and twenty five dollars in hand paid by said John PITTS the reciept whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John PITTS his heirs and forever a certain tract or parcell of land as aforesaid Containing two Hundred acres sumate lying and being Mauldings fork of Red River beginning on bank of said river on a white oak and beech on the Carolina line running west with said line 40 poles thence North 50 West 160 poles to a stake, thence North 50, East 90 poles crossing the fork to a stake, thence East 60 poles to a stake, thence South 38 E three hundred poles to a Post Oak and red Oak on the Carolina line thence with Line 100 poles to the beginning together with all and singular the priviledges and emmoluments and appertenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the aforesaid trace or parcell of Land unto the said John PITTS his heirs and forever to his only proper use free from and against the claim of the said Erbin EWING late Sheriff or any other person whatsoever claiming under him.
