DUNCAN PASSES AWAY AT ASHVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA Last Thursday, the friends and relatives of Mr. C. V. DUNCAN, the son of Mr & Mrs H. V. DUNCAN of this city (Cloverport), received a profound shock when it was learned by telegraph that he had succumbed by consumption (now called tuberculosis) at Ashville, North Carolina, whither he had been taken by his mother in the hope that the mountain air would restore his health. The telegram was received by his father, H. V. DUNCAN. Although it was known that Courtney was very low, it had been hoped that he could be brought home before the dissolution took place. Courtney was born in Cloverport November 5, 1874. His early education was in the public schools of Cloverport. He was a mathematician of unusual powers. He was employed for a number of years in the wholesale grocery house of the American Grocery Company. On Wednesday, his Uncle Charles P. BABBAGE started to Ashville to assist in caring for him on the journey home, but before he could get there, Courtney passed away. The bereaved mother arrived at Cloverport last Friday with his remains. The funeral was at 11:00 Saturday morning at the Methodist Episcopal Church by Reverend JOINER.
