Mrs. Durbin 
Ethel Phyllis Durbin, 94, of Vanceburg, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at 11: 15 
a.m., at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. Maysville. following an extended 
illness. 
Born May 2. 1904, in Adams County, Ohio. she was a daughter of the late 
Charles O. and Cora Mae Liter Spriggs. She was a housewife and a member of 
East Fork Christian Church. She was a charter member of the Eastern Star 
Lodge. St. Mary's Chapter 504 of Tollesboro. 
Surviving are one daughter, Dolores Childrey of Vanceburg; one son. Charles R. 
Vance of Route 2, Vanceburg; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 
one great­great-grandchild. 
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Vance, in 1973; her 
second husband, Thomas Durbin, in 1987; five sisters; and four broth­ers. 
Services were conducted Sunday, June 28, 1998, at 1:00 p.m., at Dick­erson 
Funeral Home in Vancehurg.· Darrel Cone officiated with burial in McClurg 
Cemetery at Concord .
