LOUISE WILSON ECTON
Louise Wilson Ecton, 98, widow of J. W. “Ward” Ecton, Sr., died Thursday,
September 26, 2003, at Johnson Mathers Nursing Home. She was born in
Nicholas County to the late John Samuel & Tevis Shrout Wilson.
She was a retired employee of Nicholas County Hospital and attended Eastern
State Normal School in Richmond. She was a member of Carlisle United
Methodist Church and had been a member of Moorefield United Methodist Church
for 60 years prior to moving to Carlisle in 1980. She served on the church
board, as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent. She was also an
officer with the Methodist Women. She was a member of the Moorefield
Homemakers and had served as president of the Moorefield Homemakers and
president of the Nicholas County Homemakers.
Survivors are: three sons - John (& Patsy) Ecton of Carlisle, Paul (& Mary)
Ecton of Milford, Ohio, and Ralph (& Helen) Ecton, Lexington; a daughter -
Betty (& Ellis) Flora, Frankfort; a sister - Lorene (& Tom) Brough,
Lexington; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 33 great
grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, J. W. Ecton, Jr., and a granddaughter.
Services were conducted Monday, September 29, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home
by Rev. Howard Livingood. Burial was in Carlisle Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Paul, Dan & Phil Ecton, Steve & Mark Flora and Mike
Schuttz.
Honorary bearers were granddaughters.
Contributions are suggested to the Johnson Mathers Nursing Home Activities
Fund or Moorefield United Methodist Church.
