Edwards December 7, 1856 - unknown Hart County KyArchives Biography Author: Genealogy and Biography, Volume V, 2nd edition, 1886 WILLIAM B. EDWARDS, clerk of the circuit court of Hart County, was born in Munfordville, on the 7th of December, 1856. His father, Joseph A. Edwards, is also a Kentuckian by birth, was born May 10, 1828, and in 1855 was united in marriage with Dorinda T., daughter of William and Nancy (Gum) Cook, the former a native of North Carolina, and the latter of Maryland. To Joseph A. Edwards and wife were born four sons and two daughters: William B., Virginia D. (Thompson), Henry S., Isaac N., Edwin V. and Mary M. Joseph A. Edwards has during his lifetime been engaged in various branches of business, among which was farming, which he carried on for some years in connection with mercantile pursuits; he held the office of deputy Sheriff of Hart County for several years preceding, and during the war of 1861, and from 1869 to 1874 was attorney for Hart County, and since then has been engaged in the practice of law in Hart and adjoining counties. His father, Isaac N. Edwards, was a North Carolinian; came to Kentucky when a young man, and located in Barren County, where, in 1826, he married Miss Annie E. Bohannon. His vocation in life was that of a farmer; he died at the age of sixty-seven years, having been born in the year 1800. William B. Edwards was reared on his father's farm, obtained a good common school training and finished with two years' course in Caverna Institute, in Hart County; then for three years he was employed on the home farm, after which he engaged in the book trade with the firm of Caperton & Cates, of Louisville, Ky., where he remained until 1879. In that year he was appointed deputy circuit court clerk under A. Miller; this office he held until the death of Mr. Miller, in January, 1884. Mr. Edwards was then appointed to serve as clerk during the unexpired term, and in August of the same year was elected as a Democrat to the same office which he now holds. He is a Master Mason in Green River Lodge, No. 88.
