DEED: Elston/Dougherty/Kalfus/Blankenbaker/Reel etal, 1825, Jefferson Co This Indenture made and entered into this 9th day of May one thousand and eight hundred and twenty five between Jonathan Elston and Polly his wife of Jefferson County and state of Kentucky of the one part and William Dougherty of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth. That the said Jonathan Elston & Polly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars in spice (?) to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents have granted, bargined and sold, aliened released conveyed and affirmed and by these presents do grant bargin sell, alien a lien [sic] release convey and confirm unto the said William Dougherty a certain tract or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Jefferson and state of Kentucky on Popelick Creek containing two hundred and twenty five acres more or less and bounded as follows (viz): beginning at 3 white oaks in a line of Henry F. Kalfus and corner to Thomas Blankenbaker thence with said Kalfus line north 22 degrees West 120 poles to a hickory elm and dead sugar _____ to said Kalfus thence North 69 East 27 poles to a white oak and hickory corner to said Blankenbaker thence with his line North 22 West 20 poles to a hickory in said Blankenbaker's line thence North 66 East 32 poles to a sugar tree on the west bank of Popelick thence with its meanders South 84 84 East 16 poles South 41 East 13 poles to a stone and hickory tree corner to William Mills thence with his line crossing said creek North 69 East 48 poles to 2 beeches and elm corner to said Mills and SE corner of John Handby's 1000 acre preemption. Thence South 2_ East 20 poles to 2 beeches and ash corner to Jacob Reels thence with his line South 58 East 52 poles to a large double hickory and two beeches corner to said Reel thence with another of his lines South 75 East 76 poles to an ash and 2 sugars corner to said Reel in Michael Crookes line thence with his line South 20 East 12 poles to a stone in said Crookes line thence South 69 poles to a white oak redbr___ and hickory thence South 10 West 16 poles to a stone in Jacob Blankenbaker's line thence with his line South 70 West 46 poles crossing Popelick to an ash Buckeye and black walnut thence North 42 West 5 poles to beech & buckeye in Peter Shepherds line thence South 65 West 230 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenances unto the said William Dougherty his heirs or assigns for ever and the said Jonathan Elston and Polly his wife ___ covenant and agree to and with said William Dougherty that they will warrant and defend the said land with its appurtenances unto the said Dougherty his heirs and assigns against themselves and their heirs and all persons claiming the same by or under them and against the claims or demand of all persons whatever.
