Deposition of Margaret ESTEP.

Age, residence, occupation: 68, Monroe Co, wife of farmer.

Acquainted with Margaret EMMERT & Jefferson Moore? Yes

Acquainted with Jacob Emmert and Henry Emmert? Did not know Jacob, knew Henry.

Was Henry a brother of Margaret? Yes

Acquainted with the land? Yes, I have lived on them.

Did Jacob ever occupy them and when? Widow lived there but I don't know about him.

Was a suit brought by Henry against the heirs of Jacob? Yes

Has the land been sold? Yes, several years before the war of 1861.

Did you ever see a deed to Jeff MOORE? Yes, saw it and heard it read.

Did Henry live on and occupy the land? I don't think he lived on it.

Did Henry sell the land and to whom? Yes, to David ALAMANY.

Did you see a deed from Henry to David? Yes and read it.

Did Albany occupany the land? Yes, 6-7 years.

If you saw the deed when? Saw them in my brother Henry WAGGONER's possision and in Widow Emmert's possession.

Did Albany sell the land? Yes to my brother Henry Waggoner.

Is this the same Waggoner in whose possession you saw the deed? Yes, he lived on it 2-3 years.

Did you hear Jefferson Moore giving his deposition here? Yes.

Did you hear him saying anything about Henry Waggoner; was this your brother? Yes.

Do you know that your brother sold the land, if so to whom? No, I don't think he sold the land, he mortgaged them.

Have you lived on the land or near the land? Yes for 35-40 years.

Was Moore possessed of that land during this time? Yes, saw him cut timber, have seen his renters occupying and cultivating the land.

You said a suit was brought by Henery Emmert against the heirs of Jacob Emmert. Yes

Does the land sued for lie in Monroe Co? Yes

Were you acquainted with all the children and grandchildren of Jacob? I did not know them all.

Were you acquainted with Margaret Emmert at that time. Yes, she lived in the county at that time.
