To: KYF Subject: Fisher.Walter.Herbert.2002.Boyle.OBIT2 Walter Herbert Fisher May 22 2002 Boyle County KyArchives Obituaries Danville Advocate Messenger, 24 May 2002 Walter Herbert Fisher, 89, of Brookview Place, Danville, formerly of Columbia, Tenn., died Wednesday at his home. Born Nov. 4, 1912, in Nashville, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Marie Knight Fisher. He was the widower of Mable Eldridge Fisher. He played first base for the Nashville Vols Minor League baseball team in the 1930s. He also was the owner of one of the first gas stations in Nashville and worked for the Nashville Fire Department and Tennessee State Prison. He also had been an employee of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and was treasurer and former co-owner of Fisher Electric Co. in Columbia. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific as a signalman. He was a member of Berea Church of Christ in Columbia. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Bryant of Danville; a sister, Jeanne Rudolph of Nashville; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday.
