VIRGINIUS FOOTE was born April 21, 1833, in Breckinridge County, on Sinking Creek, where he resided until 1878, when he located at his present home, in Meade County. His father, Edwin Foote, as born in Fauquier County, Va., about 1808. When a young man he moved to Kentucky, locating on the head waters of Sinking Creek. He was a farmer, and also for a short time engaged in merchandising. He was a son of William Foote, also a native of Virginia, a farmer, and of English descent. Edwin Foots was married, about 1830, to Miss Ellen, daughter of Gerard and Elizabeth (Lee) Alexander, of Breckinridge County. From this union sprang Ludwell A., Virginius, Nancy T. (Anderson) and Gerard, who was killed in the Confederate States Army at Franklin, Tenn., November 30, 1864. September 12, 1861, Dr. Foote married Miss Anna M., daughter of John and Maria A. (Harris) Woolfolk. He began the study of medicine under the proceptorship of Drs. Tyler and Luckett, of Owensboro; after about eighteen months he attended lectures at the medical department of the University of Louisville, from which he graduated in the class of 1856-57, and began the practice of his profession, which he has since continued at various places with success. He is not connected with any church or secret organization, and in politics is a Democrat.
