The original letters are now in the Special Collections Livrary at the University of Kentucky at Lexington. Camp Sherman October the 29th 1861 Miss Rebecca K HORINE Dear friend I take the presant opportunity of Writing you A few lines to let you know that I am wll and that I have not forgotten you yet. I am in Camp at the far grounds that I could see you this beautiful Morning. We have A fine time here and A heep of fun but no pleasure compared with that which I have when inyour company but I hope you will remember me and write to me Direct your letters to Camp Sherman Jefferson Co.
