Fowler 1858 - February unknown Meade County KyArchives Biography Author: Kentucky Genealogy and Biography, Volume V, 3rd edition, 1886 MAJ. CHARLES W. FOWLER, principal of the Brandenburg Academy, was born in Washington County, Ohio, in 1858. When he was but a child his parents, Royal A. and Emily J. Fowler, died. Charles W. at the age of eleven years, was placed in the Kentucky Military Institute, where he had the advantages of a thorough education; graduating as civil engineer in 1878, and taking the degree of Master of Arts the following year. In 1878 he accepted the position of professor of physics, chemistry and engineering in his alma mater, where he contineud to teach until the summer of 1883, when he resigned, and was engaged in no regular business until the summer of 1884, when he removed to Brandenburg, Meade County, his present home. Maj. Fowler is a thorough scholar, a practical teacher, taking front rank among the educators of the State. His wife, to whom he was married in July, 1881, is also an efficient teacher, and has charge of the primary department of the Brandenburg Academy. Her maiden name was Annie E. Reynolds, a daughter of James Reynolds, of Shelby County, Ky.
