FRAKES, owner and proprietor of the St. Cloud Hotel at Brandenburg, Ky., was born in 1835, in Harrison County, Ind. His father, Jacob Frakes, was a native of Hardin County, Ky., where he was reared, but in early manhood he removed to Harrison County, Ind., where he married Miss Mary Ann Scott, a native of Pennsylvania. John F. is the fifth of their family of ten children, and was reared to maturity in his native county, where he devoted himself to the pursuits of the farm until 1871, when he removed to Brandenburg, Ky., at which time, in connection with I. Malin, he built the St. Cloud Hotel, of which he has since been the proprietor. In 1864 he married Miss Eliza Malin, daughter of Basil B. and Anna Malin. She was born in Breckinridge County, Ky., in 1835.
