GALLOWAY, the sixth of David Galloway's family of six sons and two daughters, is a native of Barren County, Ky., and was born December 3, 1857; his early life was devoted to his father's service on the home farm of 141 acres until he was twenty-one years of age, after which he continued to live at home and work with and for his father for a part of the crop. This mode of life he continued until his marriage September 28, 1881. The maiden name of his wife was Miss Sarah J. McInteer, the third of Horation McInteer's eight children, by two marriages. The second marriage was to Miss Isabella Payton, a sister of Mrs. McInteer, deceased, and to this union were born six children: Sarah J., William Theodore, Burrell Hubbard, Flora B., Silas Booth and Jesse S., of whom Burrell H. and Silas B. are dead. Immediately after his marriage Mr. Galloway bought a farm near his father's, of 107 acres, for which he agreed, with his brother, Thomas A. Galloway, to pay $1,800. But the parties failed to make a deed of the tract, and it was in litigation three years, in which time he lost the farm.
