Gammon, 83 The funeral for Velda Ruth Riley Gammon, 83, of Madisonville was held Friday afternoon, Dec. 31, at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville. Mr. Joe Leonard officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery at Clay. Mrs. Gammon died Monday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at Britthaven of Bowling Green. She was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Webster County, daughter of the late Guy and Viola Peck Riley . Mrs. Gammon, a homemaker and member of Woman’s Missionary Union, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville for many years where she taught the 7-year-old Sunday school class. She was also preceded in death by her husband Cledis A. Gammon, who died March 29, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Gammon, Bowling Green; a son, Edward A. “Eddie” Gammon, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Mazie Lee, Jeffersontown; two brothers, D. W. Riley and Homer Riley, Madisonville; a half sister, Ruby Hatley, Dawson Springs; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Gideons International or Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
