        Charles D Gardiner, 81, uncle of Frank G Bowmer and Miss Isabel
Gardiner, Madisonville, Grand Tower, Ill., died there Wednesday night
several days after being injured when a truck crashed into his automobile
while he was motoring alone near Grand Tower.
        He is survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters.
        Funeral services will be conducted at Grand Tower Sunday and 
burial will be in a cemetery there.
        Mr Gardiner was the brother of the late Dr. T W Gardiner, city, 
and was the last survivor of four brothers and two sisters.
        Mr Bowmer, daughter, Arminta, and Miss Gardiner motored to Grand
Tower when advised of Mr. Gardiner's injuries.
