(MO) 2 Jan 1908 GENTRY The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Evodia Gentry was born at Bardstown, Nelson County, Ky., March 27 1826. About the year 1830, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Redman , moved to Ralls Co. Mo. January 13, 1848 she was married to Christy Gentry Jr. To them were born eleven children, two of whom died in infancy and the third, Mrs. Samuel Hampton, died September 1893. Eight of the eleven, three sons and five daughters, still live and were all present at the funeral. She was converted and became a consistent member of the Bethlehem Baptist church, having been baptized by her husband’s father, Rev. Christy Gentry Sr. in September 1855. She remained in the fellowship of the Bethlehem church all her Christian life, more than fifty years. Her husband died September 23, 1867, leaving her with a large family of children to care for and in all the years of her active life, with unceasing fidelity she worked and prayed and lived for her children. She had a beautiful character. About noon, Dec 24, 1907, she suddenly and peacefully passed into the beyond. The funeral services were conducted at the home in Monroe City by Dr. L. W. Read. Rev. B. F.
