Born Feb. 4, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Daisy Mae and the late James M. Gilbert. He was a retired businessman and member of Hebron Methodist Church. He was the widower of Willa Banks Gilbert, a member of the Lincoln County Young Farmers Association and former president of the Lincoln County Fair Board. He attended both the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. Survivors include three sons, James T. Gilbert of Miami, Fla., Michael Y. Gilbert of Salem, Va. and Stephan L. Gilbert of Waipahu, Hawaii; four daughters, Elizabeth A. Hill and Kay Hickerson, both of Stanford, Carol Cutter of Richmond and Jenny Denham of Waynesburg; three brothers, Billy and Buckwheat Gilbert, both of Stanford and Dickie Gilbert of Lancaster; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Chris Gilbert. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Hill. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Patterson, Keith Deatherage, Bobby Camenisch, Johnny Estes, Marion D. Bastin and Harry Goggin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Cox, Doug Brickey, Dan Grigson, William Downs, George Saufley, Bobby McKlesky and Danny Spangler. Memorials may go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Kidney Association or American Heart Association. ______________________________
