Appeared in Monroe Co June 1833, age 72. Born Monmouth Co NJ 1740 (typed up 1840?). 
Enlisted Rowan Co NC 1780. Prior to war lived in Rowan and Perry Cos NC. Since the 
war, has lived in Oglethorpe GA, Lawrence Co IN and Monroe Co. 
Children are: George Washington Giles, Henry Giles, James Giles, David Giles, Deborah 
Giles, Eli Giles, Louey Giles, Malinda Giles and Levi Giles. Names found in Bible 
record. Fellow soldier, Richard Giles made affadavit in Monroe Co Aug 1831; knew 
soldier in NC. Widow of John applied for widow's pension in Allen Co, June 11 ___, 
age 102. Her maiden name was Martha ROBERTS. Married Rowan Co NC 16 Aug 1768; 
certified copy filed by the clerk of Allen Co. It was also noted that Deborah Giles 
married Samuel LANCASTER; Louey Giles married Mark ANDERSON and Malinda GILES married 
James MOMS?
