He was born August 12, 1763. He lived in Edgefield County, S. C., and entered the service in April, 1781. He lived in Wilkes County, Georgia two years after the Revolution. He then moved to Fairfield, S. C., where he lived two years and then moved to Clarke County Kentucky, where he lived one year, then to Georgia where he lived for seven years, part of which time he served against the Indians; then to South Carolina where he lived 19 years, then to Todd County, Ky. He married Holly Medford, March 15, 1792, in Spartanburg, S. C. He died May 31, 1835 in Todd County, Ky. Holly Medford Gillespie was the younger sister of Mrs. Francis Walker and lived with her at the time of marriage. Mrs. Walker was 70 years of age in Todd County, July 15, 1843. Holly's name is given in one paper as Hallidith Gillespie. She lived until after December 16, 1870, and was then living near Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
