Glass.James.1833.Spencer.WILL James Glass July 24, 1833 Spencer County KyArchives Will Source: Spencer County Will Book A Page 519 Written: July 24, 1833 Recorded: October 5, 1836 Will of James Glass I James Glass of County of Spencer and State of Kentucky being of disposing mind and taking into ___ the uncertainty of life and being desirous to Settle my affairs do make and ordain this my last Will and testament disannulling all others. First I will my Soul into the hands of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior in whom I trust and my Body to the grave 2nd I will to my son Culbertson Glass the moiety of Land beginginning (sic) at the North West corner of my Land known by the name of the Gum Corner running eastwardly to the middle of the cane then Southwardly in the middle of the cain until it comes to the end of the present Land, thence west so far that a line to run parrel with the old division line between him and me South wardly so far as to give him the Spring in the hollow thence with the old line. 3rd To my Son Wakefield Glass I will fifty Dollars. 4th I will to my son Gilbert all my Land including eighteen acres that my Son culbertson is to convey to me and farm on which I live after the moiety given to Culbertson Glass on the conditions following Towit. He is to Support his mother my well beloved wife Margaret comfortably so long as she lives also his Aunt Hannan Wakefield is to have her Support on the place as long as she lives and to pay to each of my Daughters Rebecca Griffen Fanny Glass Hannah Wakefield Jean Glass Esther Glass Margaret Glass and Martha Glass one hundred and forty five Dollars 62 cents each. All the money herein named to be paid in the following manner to my Son Wakefield thirty Dollars fo the Sum left to him to be paid one year after my Death in case his Aunt and Mother is then living and atthe Death of his aunt ten Dollars atthe Death of his mother the other ten and each of my Daughters to be paid one hundred dollars one year after my Death in case their mother is then living at her Death twenty one Dollars 81 cts and in case their Aunt is then living at her death the balance of the Sums left them and lastly atthe Death of my wife I will all my personal property that I may then own to be equally divided between my Sister Hannah Wakefield and my Son Gilbert and all my Daughters. I appoint Culbertson Glass and John Carr my Executors. In testimony whereof I have herunto set my hand and Seal this 24th July 1833. This writing purporting to be the Last Will and testament of James Glass Deceased was proved by the oaths of Matthew Wakefield and John Carr Subscribing Witnesses thereto and is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of John Carr one of the Executors therin named who made oath thereto and together with Gilbert Glass and Matthew Wakefield his Securities entered into and acknowledged their Bond in the penalty of $2500 conditioned as the Law directs. Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of Said Will in due form: liberty being reserved to the other Executor named in the Said will to join in the probate when he Shall think fit.
