Goldman Godsey June 3 1974 Mccreary County KyArchives Obituaries Tuesday, June 11, 1974, McCreary County Record Rev. Goldman Godsey, 67, (57) died June 3, at his home in Stearns following a lingering illness. The deceased gave much of his life to preaching in rural Baptist churches. He was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church. Rev. Godsey was the son of Zeblon and Dolly Thompson Godsey, born in Wayne County May 12, 1917. He was married to Lillie Coffey who survives to mourn his loss. They had nine children. Melvin Godsey, Mrs. Melva Ross, Ronald Godsey and Arnold Godsey, all of Stearns, Mrs. Leona Stephens and Mrs. Linda Stephens, both of Whitley City, Mrs. Velva Dean Clark of Winchester, Ind., Edward Godsey of Muncie, Ind., Mrs. Della Roberts of Wiborg; and 15 grandchildren, four of whom are deceased. Other family survivors include: a brother, Robert Godsey, Stearns; and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Tucker of Stearns, Mrs. Clara Tucker (Troxell) of Whitley City, and Mrs. Mae Perry, of Sidney, Ohio. Parker and Wilburn Godsey, brothers, are deceased. The funeral was held June 5 at Mt. View Baptist Church with burial in Jones Cemetery. Ministers in the service were Rev. Everett King, Rev. Herbert Perry and Rev. Henry Cox. Pallbearers were Jessie Troxell, Blaine and Wayne Phillips, Ronzo Worley, Scott Bell, Curtis and Geary Coffey, Leamon Godsey and Jerry Kidd.
