John Marion Godsey, 72, of Stearns, died Jan 7 at Lake Cumberland Medical 
Center. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at Stearns First 
Baptist Church with Rev. Billy J. Turner officiating. Burial was in Pine Knot 
Cemetery.  He was born May 16, 1907, at Spring City, Tenn., to the late 
Marion and Nannie Forner Godsey. He was a retired carpenter for the Stearns 
company and a member of the Stearns First Baptist Church.  Survivors include 
his wife, Alma Lavender Godsey of Stearns; five children, Mrs. Gladys Jackson, 
Burnside, Rev. Paul Godsey, Burlington, Ky., Mrs. Lois Holland, St. 
Petersburg, Fla., Kenneth Godsey, Stearns; 19 grandchildren, 4 great-
grandchildren; a brother Elliot Godsey, Spring City, Tenn.; and a sister, Mrs. 
Minnie Barton, Hampton, Va.  Hickman Funeral Home was in charge of 
arrangements.
