HELM This Indenture made this Secon day of March in the year of out lord one thousand eight hundred and seven Between George BELL and Nancy BELL his wife of the one part and Samuel GOODEN of the County of Hardin and state of Kentucky of the other part Wittnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds to him the sd George in hand paid by the sd Gooden the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and confessed, he the said George BELL hath granted bargained and sold, and by these presence doth grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Samuel GOODEN all that tract or parcel land situate lying and being in Sovrens Vlly Hardin County Containing by Estimation one hundred and twenty acres to be the same more or less it being part of a survey of 500 acres entered, surveyed, and patented in name of Osborn SPRIGG and by said SPRIGG by his deed of Bargain and sale bearing date the 13th day in May 1789 now of record in the County Court of Nelson was Conveyed to Ralph HUMPHREYS now deceased and was by Geo W. HUMPHREY lawful heir and representative of sd Ralph HUMPHREY by his deed of Bargain and same conveyed to the sd George BELL Bounded as follows. Viz. Beginning at a white oak standing in the original line of sd 500 acres survey being SE Corner to a Survey made for the heirs of John EWIN 96 poles to a dogwood and black gum a line thence North 29 Degrees west 200 poles to a Hickory and Black Oak thence South 70 west 96 poles to white oak and Hickory in the original line thence South 20 East 200 poles to the beginning Containing one hundred and twenty acres be the same more or less with all profits Commodities advantages here detriments and appurtenances whats even to the sd Samuel GOODEN to have and to hold sd mentioned tract of land and every part and parcel Hereof with the appurtenances unto the same Samuel Gooden his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the sd Saml GOODEN his heirs and assigns for ever and the said George BELL and Nancy in ___ for themselves their heirs the sd one hundred and twenty acres of land and every part and parcel thereof ___ them the sd George and Nancy his wife and agt [against?] all and every other person and persons whatsoever to the sd Saml GOODEN his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant & forever Defend by these presents In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this day and date first before written. George BELL [seal] Nancy BELL [seal] Hardin County Sct I Benjamin HELM Clerk of the County Court of the County aforesaid do hereby certify that on the day of the date hereof George BELL and Nancy his wife personally appeared in office and acknowledged this Indenture of bargain and sale (containing one hundred and twenty acres) to Samuel GOODEN, as and for their act and Deed she the said Nancy at the same time being examined by me separate and apart from her husband Said she freely and voluntary relinquished her right dower which she has or may have in and to the land hereby intended to be conveyed and that she was willing the same should be recorded.
