Obit; Whaley and related families CARLISLE MERCURY Page 5, 5 September 1931 Mrs. Elmira WHALEY HALL, 85 years old, died at her home near Headquarters Sunday night following a short illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Hall is survived by five children, J.L. HALL, Nicholas county; Mrs. W.H. HALL, Staunton, Va.,,; Rev. W.B. HALL, Millersburg; Mrs. James T. HALL, Nicholas county and Joseph E. HALL, Lexington; two brothers, James W. WHALEY and Thomas C. WHALEY, both of Paris; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Millersburg Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George W. BOSWELL, assisted by Rev. H.S. DICKSON, pastor of the Millersburg Christian Church. Burial followed in the family lot in the Millersburg cemetery. Mrs. HALL's ancestors were of Revolutionary War stock. Her great-grandfather served under General Washington. Three of her uncles served in the War of 1812 under Richard M. JOHNSON, who was Vice President under Andrew Jackson.
