BIBLE: Hardesty; Bourbon, Fayette, Henry Cos BENJAMIN HARDESTY BIBLE contributed by Betty Ann Bowles Pleasureville, KY Benjamin HARDESTY brought his family to Kentucky from Calvert Co. Maryland about 1784. He died in Bourbon Co. KY, 1818 leaving 11 children. One of his children, Benjamin II was born about 1776 VA and married Nancy SAGESER of Fayette Co. KY. They, too, had a large family - 13 in all. The following Bible records were taken from the Bible which originally belonged to their son, Benjamin III (1825-1900), who married Matilda ROBINSON, daughter of Squire C. ROBINSON and Matilda BRYANT. Most of Benjamin and Matilda HARDESTY's descendants lived in Henry Co. KY. The bible is owned by Benjamin HARDESTY's grandaughter, Mrs. Horace C. DUNAVENT of Shelbyville, KY. Sometimes the name was HARDESTER, HARDISTY, and HARDESTY. Mrs. DUNVANT's mother was Mattie May (recorded in Bible as Matny Mogen). Kurtz HARDESTY was known as "Curt" HARDESTY.
