Harris September 11, 1821 - unknown Jessamine County KyArchives Biography Author: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887 WILLIAM P. HARRIS was born September 11, 1821, and is the second son of John and Dicey (Alverson) Harris. John Harris was born in Jessamine County, May 3, 1792, was a farmer, and died March 17, 1865. Mrs. Dicey Harris was born in Madison County, May 14, 1790, and died October 5, 1864. William Harris, paternal grandfather of William P. Harris, was born in Virginia, and came to Jessamine County, Ky., in an early day. He was a cooper by trade, and also carried on a farm. He died in Jessamine County in his seventieth year. William P. Harris was born and reared on a farm six miles southwest of Nicholasville, Ky., and has farmed all his life, and also raises stock. He was married December 2, 1852, to Miss Frances, a daughter of Hillery and Malinda (Boatman) Woodward. Her father was born in Jessamine County, December 18, 1800, was a farmer, and died June 14, 1880. Her mother was born in Madison County and died in 1842. Six children have blessed this union: Mary B. (married to Herod Brooks December 18, 1873), Maggie J., Malinda (married to John Brumfield September 7, 1881), Henry G. (married, December 20, 1883, to Annie Peel, of Jessamine County, daughter of William and Elizabeth (Blackeman) Peel), Henry G. (living on the farm with his father), and Walter D. (married September 8, 1886, to Myrtie Overstreet, daughter of J. P. Overstreet). Mrs. Harris was born September 9, 1835, and died July 26, 1886, a member of the Methodist Church. He owns 100 acres of land in Sulphur Well District.
