GEORGE W. HASELWOOD was born April 21, 1842, and is the youngest in the family of two sons and four daughters, born to Henry C. And Cassandre W. (Moss) Haselwood. Henry C. Haselwood was born in Dinwiddie County, Va., came to Kentucky when about ten years old and died in November, 1843, aged thirty-seven years. Cliff Haselwood, his father, married Phoebe J. Cousins in Virginia and came to Kentucky about 1814. Mrs. Cassandre W. Haselwood was born in Barren County in 1810, and was a daughter of Frederick and Mary (Coats) Moss, natives of Virginia, who early came to Kentucky, first settling in Boyle County, thence moving to Green. Frederick's father, Davis Moss, married Catherine Price, served during the Revolution and died on his way to Kentucky. George W. Haselwood was born in Hart County, was reared a farmer and married, in March, 1866, Luella S. Ford, of Taylor County, a daughter of Thomas and Emily J. (Thurman) Ford. Thomas J. Ford was born in Virginia in February 1804, and was a farmer and slave owner, and died in November, 1873. He was a son of William Ford, who married Elizabeth Harris, of Virginia, and was of Scotch descent. Mr. Haselwood located, where he now resides, in Green County, on 200 acres of land, of which 150 are in cultivation, and three-fifths of it he has acquired by his own industry. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and with his wife belongs to the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
