Eugene has gone from us. We miss his friendly greeting and kindly smile. We will never see him here any more. He is not lost, for his spirit remains with us inspiring us to tread the straight and narrow path that leads on to the home where he has gone. He was always kind and courteous; ever recognizing his legion of friends with a kindly word for all. We loved Eugene for what he was. In giving expression to my sentiments I am expressing the feelings of all who knew him and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. We can not always understand the whys and wherefores of happenings in this life, why this talented boy just entering into young manhood should be plucked from the garden of life. Yet we must sumbit to His will and rest in happy contentment that our ALL-WISE Father knoweth best and that there is a purpose in all this. It may be He intends that the beauty of his character, in thought, which is always more impressive than in loving reality, shall cheer and comfort us and lead us on to a better life. To his personal friend he spoke of his life so nearing its close, that he could not think of breaking the news to his dear little mother who would be so grieved and alone. The last days of his life were days of suffering; he had the best care and attention, all that noted specialists, a loving mother, sister and friends could do was done, but God wanted him for His own. To his grief-stricken mother and sister; to his personal friend and friends let us say as has many times been said before. Be comforted; There is no suffering yonder, No pain or woe can touch your loved one there; His happy feet are trippling lightly under sweet trees that make the heavenly home so fair. Be comforted; Think of the joyful meeting With loving friends who've just " gone on before," The glad surprise, and tender words of greeting That echo now on that Elysian shore. Be comforted; He is not lost, but only Gone on a little way to wait for you, But tho his going left you sad and lonely. Some day your life with him you will renew.
