HERNDON was born in Virginia July 13, 1808, and was a son of George and Elizabeth Herndon. His mother's maiden name was Elizabeth Zachery. His father was also born in Virginia, and came to Kentucky about 1815 and settled on a farm in Madison County, but later moved to Missouri, where he farmed the remainder of his life. He and wife were members of the Baptist Church and in politics he was a Whig. There were born to him seven sons and four daughters. A. G. Herndon came to Kentucky with his father and was reared to farming, and now owns 557 acres of good land in Garrard County near Lancaster, on which he now resides. His wife's maiden name was Nancy B. Pollard and he became the father of three children: Lucie Anderson, Betty Anderson and Nancy Jane Herndon, who died aged three years and four months. Mr. and Mrs. Herndon are members of the Christian Church and in politics he is a Democrat.
